- At GlaxoSmithKline, explored new computer science technologies relevant to pharmaceutical research and implemented prototypes for promising systems.
- Developed text mining systems to extract information from unstructured scientific and medical literature; established company-wide use of a wiki to foster information sharing; piloted advanced search interface to improve the search experience for corporate documents; prototyped an information integration system which used ontology-based domain models, data source wrappers and mediators to find and integrate information; explored usefulness of 3D virtual worlds in a corporate environment.
- Identified relevant technologies, designed prototypes, and managed implementation, including staffing and budget. Assessed value of the technologies to the corporation, and transitioned successful pilots to a production group.
- Effectively communicated the technologies and the results to professionals at all levels of the corporation, in multiple locations and from many backgrounds.
- Led GSK team in joint research efforts with the University of Pennsylvania and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Provided domain expertise and customer focus, managed GSK personnel and tasks, communicated results internally and externally.

- Develops and teaches graduate-level computer science courses in cutting edge topics: software reengineering, web and text mining, natural language processing, ontologies. Teaches the graduate level artificial intelligence course, supervises independent study and masters thesis students, drawing on her work experience to make her courses relevant and effective.
- Receives high evaluations from her students both for the stimulation her courses provide and for her communication with and support for students.
- Serves on the department Graduate Studies Committee, which reviews program and curriculum decisions and issues and makes recommendations. Served on the committee that designed a new masters program in software engineering.
