Your second Java assignment is to turn your MagicForest application into an applet. It should have two buttons, Step and Reset. Step advances the simulation by one turn; Reset starts a new simulation.

Here's my version; your version does not have to look exactly like this, but it should be fairly similar.  Try it and see how it works--this is an actual applet, not just a picture of an applet.

You can get some extra credit for additional features (such as setting the initial number of each kind of creature). Do not, however, try to do any animation; that's for the next assignment.

If you don't see my applet, you probably have Java turned off in your browser. In Netscape, go to Edit : Preferences : Advanced and click Enable Java. In Internet Explorer 5, go to Tools : Internet Options... : Advanced, and under Java make sure that Java JIT Compiler Enabled is checked.

In Netscape the applet has a white background and no borders, so I put it in a table with a border, just so you could see where the applet is. Internet Explorer seems to want to make the applet background grey; I forced the main area to be white. You don't have to worry about details like this.

Due date: March 9.

What to hand in: Please turn in a floppy with your name written on the outside. On the floppy you should have the Java source code, the compiled Java code (probably in the form of .class files, but .jar files are also okay), and the HTML file needed to run your Applet.
